Ian Somerhalder recently opened up on his own foundation with wife Nikki Reed amid rumors the couple are nearing a divorce. The 36-year-old actor talked about his latest animal foundation that he and Nikki have both been working hard at despite speculations saying the couple are tearing each other apart and are using the foundation as a cover-up.
According to a report from Movie News Guide Ian Somerhalder recently discussed his latest achievement with wife Nikki Reed, 'The Ian Somerhalder Foundation.' Apparently, the foundation is geared towards the environment in general, but is focused even more on animals and those that are becoming extinct and not treated properly.
Wife Nikki is also a strong believer of the foundation, and despite being slammed with divorce rumors, the couple have both been active in speaking up for animal rights and saving the earth for both the foundation and various other causes.
Yibada cited that recent reports claiming Reed felt pressured to become a mom was one of the reasons why the couple are on such thin ice. Apparently, Somerhalder wants to start a family but his wife believes she's entering the peak of her career, and doesn't want to have to worry about a baby just yet.
However, despite other reports claiming Ian's latest foundation was a stint to cover up their rocky marriage, it was later on found out that the couple teamed up with Humane Society to help fight against dog fighting.
In other news, Youth Health Magazine claims that Ian's friends prefer his ex and former co-star Nina Dobrev over Nikki! During the couple's wedding, a lot of friends were reported to have not shown up leading to more suspicion that Nikki isn't Ian's friend's first choice. Although some rumors claim that this could be another reason for the couple's unstable marriage, ex Nina addressed the situation and said she's happy for the couple, and glad she and Ian are still friends.
Though the real deal between Ian Somerhalder and Nikki Read is still unclear, it looks like the couple are trying to put on a positive face as they continue to move on with their relationship amid the torturing rumors of a split.
