'Suicide Squad' actor Jared Leto was reportedly locked up in a prison cell overnight to help his performance as the latest Joker. He has allegedly turned to method acting, behaving like his on-screen villain even when the cameras weren't rolling. Margot Robbie's Harley Quinn is reported to have a vital role in the film.
According to Comic Book, Jared Leto has turned to method acting for his portrayal of Joker in the upcoming adaptation of 'Suicide Squad'. He is the latest actor to take on the role of the infamous Batman series villain following in the footsteps of previous stars including the late Heath Ledger, Jack Nicholson and Cesar Romero. Leto was reported to have sent strange gifts to co-stars Margot Robbie and Will Smith including a box of bullets and a live rat.
His latest antics included being locked up in a jail cell overnight, according to Caped Crusades. Meanwhile, Joker's fictional lover and equally unstable accomplice Harley Quinn will be featured strongly in the new movie's plot. Director David Ayer hinted that she will play a pivotal role in the development of the story as well as the film's theme, according to Moviepilot. He said, "It's about her breaking free of The Joker and becoming this fully actualized, independent person. That really is a metaphor for everyone's journey here."
Margot Robbie will star as Harley Quinn, formerly psychiatrist, Dr. Harleen Quinzel. It was reported that the upcoming anti-hero film will feature her origin story - her transformation from a reputable doctor and into a mad villain embroiled in an abusive relationship with Joker.
