Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt fell in love in their last film, "Mr. and Mrs. Smith," back in 2005. Not only did the film let them find their perfect partners in life, it also boosted their acting careers. Now co-starring in new film, "By The Sea," which they made together ended up as a flop.
As reported by Daily Mail, "Mr. and Mrs. Smith" made £300million at the box office, but "By The Sea" has purportedly made a measly £300,000 at the box office, and it continues to go downhill. It is now being dropped by cinemas across the U.S.
It looks like fans are not pleased with the married couple's take on portraying a struggling couple whose marriage is on the rocks. Critics are even intensely criticizing the 40-year-old actress who starred and directed the film, and of course the movie itself. As predicted by The Hollywood Reporter, stating, "this languid piece of would-be art cinema will prove once again that even the biggest names in the world won't draw an audience to something that, in and of itself, has no reason for being," is sadly an accurate description of Jolie's third directed movie after her Second World War drama, "Unbroken", which at least made £100million.
Although it seemed like Jolie and Pitt had a lovely time making the film together, even sharing how weird it was to film a love scene with your husband in which the wife is directing in front of all cameramen. "By The Sea" is turning out as the couple's honeymoon remembrance and not a movie to remember them by.
At present, both actors turned film producer and director, are individually busy working on different projects. Brad Pitt is reportedly adapting a sci-fi novel titled, "Illuminae", into the big screen, while Jolie is still working on "First They Killed My Father," adapted from Loung Ung's book.
Maybe the 'Brangelina' duo is better off working on separate projects this time, which hopefully does not end up like "By The Sea."
