Luke Skywalker Actor Leads Star Citizen's Star-Studded Cast of Characters

Luke Skywalker will again travel the stars. This time he won't need a lightsaber, but he might need an agile and armed star fighter.

Star Wars actor Mark Hamill leads the star-studded cast for Squadron 42 in the game Star Citizen. Gary Oldman, Gillian Anderson, Andy Serkis, Mark Strong, and Ben Mendelsohn joins Hamill in the game.

According to Gamespot reporter Eddie Makuch, Hamill will play Lt. Commander Steve "Old Man" Colton, which is a far cry from the youthful and inexperienced Luke. Hamill is no stranger to video games and voice acting as he was able to polish his craft playing the Joker in Batman: The Animated Series and Batman: Arkham.

PC Gamer noted that Hamill has also worked on the Wing Commander game along with Chris Roberts, who is also the producer yet again in Star Citizen. Roberts is the man behind the record-breaking $94 million Star Citizen Kickstarter project.

Crossmap reported that the Alpha version 2 of Star Citizens features customizable controls. "All the pieces are modular. With special connectors on each piece of the setup, the controller can be reoriented in a number of different configurations. The keyboard even splits in half so the numpad can be used as its own panel. It's a really novel feature, and will be especially useful for fitting the entire setup into smaller spaces and custom builds."

Star Citizen is definitely a genre-bending game. It combines the trade economy of games like Elite and Eve Online, while having the best FPS space dogfight of Wing Commander. But it doesn't stop there. The game will also have a persistent universe in a multiplayer setting with support for private servers. The game is so massive and ambitious that games journalists are not really sure the game will actually come out as promised.

Star Citizen is developed and published by Cloud Imperium Games. The game will be released for Windows and Linux anytime next year.
