As the veteran actor, Leonardo DiCaprio, prepares for his upcoming big screen appearance, different comments and reviews about his new project "The Revenant" is surfacing in the social media. Movie critics and analysts commended him for a great performance.
Last Monday, "The Revenant" movie was screened at the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences' Goldwyn Theater in Los Angeles. It has then escalated the hype and controversy as it was considered one of the highly anticipated movies. While director Mark Romanek (One Hour Photo) complimented the movie in general and the cinematography, different critics and analysts has also released their own reviews regarding the movie.
Although a blog from the Hollywood-Elsewhere commended "The Revenant" movie, the blogger shared that it will not be suitable for female viewers or "sissies" as he called it because of its brutality, oppression and harshness. Additionally, the movie has its own different flavor and tone which made it "beautiful, fierce, immersive, and delirious."
Furthermore, DiCarpio has talked about his experience and the movie itself, as noted by Daily Mail. "This is a very linear, straightforward, brilliantly simplistic screenplay... we wanted to find the poetry in between that," he said.
"You have to rehearse meticulously and then it's a mad, intense scramble to capture this magic light, this precious hour and a half...It became very much like an un-humorous Saturday Night Live situation," DiCaprio continued. According to him, "The Revenant" movie "is the most difficult film, I think, that any of us have ever done."
The Collider reported that this might be the chance for DiCaprio to win an Oscar Award after consecutive years of being a nominee. "The Revenant" movie is directed by Best Director and Best Picture Oscars for "Birdman's" Alejandro González Iñárritu. Aside from appraisals for the crew and DiCaprio, critics have also extended their appreciation for Tom Hardy's performance.
While the film is due for a release on December 25, final touches and edits were reported to have been done last week. "The Revenant" movie is also expected to be an entry to the Oscar Awards.
