'Point Break' is an upcoming reboot of the classic 1991 film of the same name starring Patrick Swayze and Keanu Reeves. The new film will feature Edgar Ramirez and Luke Bracey as Bodhi and Johnny Utah respectively. Newly released behind-the-scenes featurettes highlight extreme sports and stunts performed by real-life professional athletes.
According to Variety, Edgar Ramirez is set to play Patrick Swayze's character Bodhi and co-star Luke Bracey will take over Keanu Reeve's character Johnny Utah. The original film was released in 1991 and followed a young FBI agent investigating a string of bank robberies allegedly committed by a group of local surfers. Johnny then forms a complex friendship with the surfers' charismatic group leader Bodhi.
The remake will be released in U.K., Russia, Japan and Latin America as well as the United States under Warner Bros. It was recently reported that China approved a screening three weeks before its intended release in the U.S. Alcon Entertainment obtained the rights for the project back in 2011 and immediately went on to production.
Ericson Core is directing the 'Point Break' remake. He most known for his work as cinematographer for Rob Cohen's 'The Fast and the Furious'. He also worked on other highly successful action films such as Mark Steven Johnson's 'Daredevil', Brian Hagleland's 'Payback' and Lawrence Kasdan's 'Mumford'.
According to The Standard, other actors joining Ramirez and Bracey include Teresa Palmer, Ray Winstone, Tobias Santelmann and Delroy Lindo. Several world renowned extreme sports athletes will be featured performing stunts in the film as well. Professional surfers Laird Hamilton, Sebastian Zietz, Makua Rothman will be joining the reboot as well as a stellar roster of snowboarders, skateboarders, motorcyclists, wingsuit stunt pilots and free climbers.
Five featurettes featured various extreme sports from behind-the-scenes, according to Comingsoon.net. These included surf scenes, motocross stunts, rock climbing feats and even wingsuit features. Audiences were also given glimpses of the stunning landscapes and locales featured in the upcoming film.
