The CW made some re-scheduling that affected "Reign" Season 3's timeslot. According to TV Line, the network moved "The Vampire Diaries" and "The Originals" on Friday instead of its Thursday night slot starting this January 29, 2016. Then the schedule of "Reign" is yet to be announced. With that being said, the series also garnered the lowest ratings this October which suggests a possible cancellation.
Meanwhile, executive producer Laurie McCarthy discussed with Entertainment Weekly about how King Francis' death (Tony Regbo) would affect the flow of the storyline. McCarthy hints that Mary (Adelaide Kane) is not only losing the love of her life, she will also lose their alliance with France. Because of that, Mary might return to Scotland to regain her throne in her homeland.
As per the official plot for episode 7 of Reign season 3, Carter Matt notes "When Prince Don Carlos (guest star Mark Ghanime) of Spain visits France, Mary uncovers a dark secret he is hiding and enlists in Catherine (Megan Follows) to advise her on how to handle [it]. When Gideon (Ben Geurens), the new ambassador from English court arrives, suspicions arise about what his true intentions are, while Bash's (Torrance Coombs) pursuit of the mysterious killer comes to a head at Greer's (Celina Sinden) tavern."
