The Android 6.0 Marshmallow for LG G4 has been obtained by users in Poland and South Korea. Recently, the upgrade is said to be rolling out on G4 handsets in European region.
According to Tampa Bay Review, LG Electronics is now sending the firmware update in a 1.5GB package, and users can download it via LG's recently launched PC sync app LG Bridge. As of the moment, only G4 devices with the model number H815 are obtaining the Android 6.0 Marshmallow. But that doesn't mean that the other models won't receive the new firmware.
In addition, it was reported that most of the users from Germany, Poland, Hungary, Spain, Turkey, Romania, Taiwan and Portugal are receiving the package through LG Bridge. Meanwhile, the G4 users in the United Kingdom with LG H815 model haven't received the Marshmallow update so far.
International Business Times stated the key features that the Android 6.0 Marshmallow will bring to LG G4. The first one was the Android Pay; this is a contactless mobile payment system that allows Android users to purchase anything at supported retail merchants through a virtual account number. But then, this system does not give out a user's exact debit or credit card information. Another was the Google Doze, which automatically compresses multiple background processes or tasks activated by Android OS. This is to improve overall battery life when devices are left unattended for a long period of time. This feature could also double the standby time of the device as well.
The Google Now on Tap is also another feature that Android Marshmallow brings. After installing Android Marshmallow, users of LG G4 can initiate the On Tap input. With this, additional details about any keyword can be accessible with a long press of the home button. Lastly, the Fingerprint Scanner which functions together with Android Pay. This feature is believed to enhance the overall security of the smartphone and the technology also supports biometric sensors.
Furthermore, Android Geeks added some details on how to install the Android 6.0 Marshmallow to LG G4 devices. Since the update is available through LG Bridge as of the moment and there is no confirmation about the Android 6.0 LG G4 OTA update availability, users will need to connect the device to PC. After that they have to launch LG Bridge and search for new firmware files. Moreover, the owners of LG G4 should remember that the LG Bridge application will be renamed to LG AirDrive after they have completed the Android 6.0 update. The users will find it under Settings> Network > Share and Connect menu.
With the Android 6.0 Marshmallow update being available on LG G4 handsets on Europe, this will surely be a great start to the company in rolling out the update on other countries.
