The Sony Xperia Z5 smartphone has been revealed to get the Android 6.0 Marshmallow upgrade soon. Following the Japanese giant's revelation of its Marshmallow roadmap, reports speculated that the biggest Android update is history will come early next year.
Sony has not detailed the exact release date of the Android 6.0 Marshmallow to Xperia Z5 and its siblings. However, many reports have surfaced already since October that Sony will be officially rolling it out by the first quarter of 2016.
There have been no official statement from Sony's end yet with regards to it, but as it normally applies in the tech department, the new flagship devices are more likely to get an update first.
Sony Xperia Z5 is the company's 2015 flagship device first released last October. It is a 5.5-inch smartphone whose display is made of an IPS LCD capacitive touchscreen. Xperia Z5 rocks a dust and waterproof build, 23 MP main camera, 8.1 MP front camera, 3 GB of RAM and non-removable 2,900 mAh battery.
Android 6.0 Marshmallow software remarkably keeps Sony's smartphones and tablets on the top of the game, as it helps bring out the best of its products. Recently, the XDA Developers community has released its own concept of the Android 6.0 Marshmallow that will hit Sony.
Features advanced by XDA include improvements in system performance and impressive battery life. The concept also brings in Google's native new features like a power saving feature called Doze and the smarter app permissions.
The custom ROM of the Marshmallow software includes a new home launcher that paves access to switching the app names within the dock on and off, plus media apps like Album, Music and the stock Camera app.
Nevertheless, the ROM excluded the double tap to wake, STAMINA mode, quick unlock, and Xperia Themes. The custom ROM of Marshmallow has been made available for now to Xperia Z3 and Xperia Z3+ devices.
