The ten episode event series will serve as a sequel from Prison Break Season 4 but a departure from Michael Scofield's death from the finale season. Dr. Sara Tancredi rumored to return with the brothers.

Prison Break joins the line of television reboots such as the Fox's The X Files, Coach, Netflix's Fuller House, and NBC's Xena The Warrior Princess as the trend in 2015. The revival announcement came in during the Fox's Television Critics Association tour last summer, TV Line noted. Fox network ordered a ten-episode limited event series for the American television serial drama created by Paul Scheuring (Zero Hour and The Experiment).

According to E Online interview with Gary Newman, Fox Television group Co-Chairman and CEO, the sequel to Prison Break is currently under development which will definetely pick up years after the Season 4 finale but before the straight-to-DVD movie conclusion. The information disclosed by Newman only substantiate that the electrocuted Michael Scofield played by Wentworth Miller is still alive.

Wrongly convicted Lincoln Burrows will also return with Dominic Purcell renewing his role. According to the Movie News Guide spoiler report, Burrows will recover from the comatose state after several years. The actor also teased that the arc of characters being brought back to life is very much plausible in the upcoming limited event series.

Movie Pilot weighs on who will possibly return on the reboot of Prison Break based on audiences' likeness factor to the character. Devious T-Bag played by Robert Knepper has 85% chance of returning while loyal friend Fernando Sucre, played by Amaury Nolasco, has the 80% chance of being part of the series.

Actress Sarah Wayne Callies, who played Dr. Sara Tancredi, teased on coming again along with Scofield and Burrows on the revival of Prison Break. She clearly stated that if the character still fits the story arc for the mini-series and fans still welcomes her, there is no reason for her not to accept.

Prison Break reboot airs sometime in 2016 at Fox.
