Microsoft and Turn 10 have already added optional microtransactions for Xbox One racing game Forza Motorsport 6. In the previous entries in the series, they didn't present any sign of microtransactions to purchase customization options.
The latest update to Forza 6 has re-introduced an in-game currency in the form of tokens, which can be bought with real money. Through an in-game Token System, the new feature enables players to buy additional cars, make modifications and other extras without the need to progress through ranks, according to We Got This Covered.
Each Forza 6 token is equivalent to around 500 in-game credits, which can be earned through regular play and by joining online competition, noted Wired. However, the in-game purchases are all optional.
The following is the cost breakdown of the token packs for Forza Motorsport 6.
- 100 Tokens: 79p (these currently appears only in Xbox storefronts and not as an in-game purchase)
- 325 Tokens: £2.39 ($3.60)
- 575 Tokens: £3.99 ($6.01)
- 1,250 Tokens: £7.99 ($12.04)
- 2,700 Tokens: £15.99 ($24.10)
- 8,000 Tokens: £39.99 ($60.28)
- 20,000 Tokens: £64.99 $97.96)
To the players who would want to have the Ferrari 250 GTO, they will be needing two million credits to avail the most expensive car in Forza 6. If players want to avail this car easily, they can spend 4,000 tokens on it, which will cost them £20 ($30). If they get the £40 pack ($60), then half of their 8,000 credit will be subtracted from it.
When Forza Motorsport 5 was launched with microtransaction in 2013, fans of the game have criticized the said feature. This time around, players are given the option to turn off notifications related to tokens, noted IGN. Prices, on the other hand, will still be displayed in both credit and token currencies.
Forza Motorsport 6 is the biggest and broadest Forza Motorsport game to date by a massive margin. For the race car obsessed, upgrade your Forza 5 to Forza 6 and know that it is all worth it.
