'Mr. Robot' Season 2 Spoilers, Update: Rami Malek Gets Serious; Christian Slater Returns; New Plot In The Works

The second installment of Mr. Robot will be dark yet exciting. Rami Malek teased a bit of information regarding his character while Christian Slater returns. Meanwhile, series director, writer and producer Sam Esmail reveals a new plot for next season.

In a post from Vulture, Rami Malek, who plays the young hacker struggling with social anxiety disorder and clinical depression, has reportedly asked his agents to clear his schedule to focus on filming the second season of Mr. Robot.

"I will say this, it doesn't get any easier for any one of the characters on the show - especially myself. After [Sam] pitched me this season, I called my agents and said, I don't really feel inclined to do anything between now and then. Because it's going to require a lot of energy," Malek said.

Malek added that he wants to get it right in terms of playing the character and that the only way to do it is to give it a hundred percent of his attention.

Meanwhile, Christian Slater will reprise his role as Mr. Robot / Edward Alderson in the next season, according to Crossmap. Although his character was revealed dead before season 1 ended, he will likely come back in season 2 by either showing flashbacks of Elliot with his father while he was a kid, or that even though Elliot is already aware that Mr. Robot is a figment of his imagination, he will still show up to try to influence Elliot.

In another story, Mr. Robot writer, creator and director Sam Esmail revealed that the writers have returned to the writer's room and are toying with the idea of Elliot dealing with the infamous drug lord Fernando Vera, played by Elliot Villar, to avenge the death of Shayla, played by Frankie Shaw, according to another post from Crossmap. It is also revealed that Mr. Robot will have the chance to talk to other people in Elliot's life.

Mr. Robot Season 2 will premiere in 2016.
