"Mad Men" creator and director Matthew Weiner will join the list of guest directors in "Orange Is The New Black" as he will direct one episode for the fourth season. Cast member Laura Prepon is giving the acclaimed director a two thumbs up.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Weiner has been good friends with series creator Jenji Kohan and is directing an episode of OITNB marks a first time for Weiner to helm a project he did not write. The episode is currently filming and an on-set source tells THR that Weiner is "loving it."
Along with Weiner, several other directors have graced the set of the Netflix series including Jodie Foster, Nicole Holofcener and Allison Anders. Weiner directed nine Mad Men episodes and the 2014 feature Are You Here, the 2013 dramedy starring Jack Black, Owen Wilson and Amy Poehler.
According to Christian Post, fans are expecting the "Mad Men" creator to work his magic in the series even though he did not write the script. Weiner sitting on the director's chair of "Orange Is the New Black" would mean no spoilers or hints being leaked. He is known to stay mum when asked about a certain project he is working on.
Meanwhile, actress Laura Prepon, who plays Alex Vause in the series, revealed that she was able to experience working with Weiner for the much-awaited episode and she loved working with him, according to Christian Today.
"We filmed a huge day on Sunday, and a lot of directors might have been overwhelmed by that, but he wasn't and he knew exactly what he wanted to do," she explained. "With a huge cast like ours, when you have a director who knows exactly what they want, it makes everything go a lot smoother. I love Matt - he's awesome."
