"The Walking Dead" Season 6 mid-season finale titled, "Start to Finish," aired this week with lots of cliff-hangers increasing the tension two-fold. And speaking of tension, the prologue to the next chapter mentions for the very first time, the new villain fans of the comic book series have been dying to see on screen. Negan and the "Saviors" will be the new threat Rick Grimes, Daryl Dixon, Glenn Rhee and the other survivors will be facing. Meanwhile, concrete theories have been played around that fan favourite, Daryl Dixon, will be Negan's (or Lucille's) first victim among the group.
In the mid-season finale, viewers see the once safe community of Alexandria now overrun with walkers after the collapse of the watchtower. The major casualty was Alexandria leader, Deanna Monroe, who injures herself and gets bit after shooting some walkers. Rick, Michonne, Carl and the others go to Jessie's house for safety. But a fight between Ron and Carl leads the walkers straight to the house. The two teenagers were fighting about whose dad was the bigger asshole.
Meanwhile, Carol discovers that Morgan has been keeping one of the Wolves in a cell and even had Denise treat his wound. The two fight as Carol wants to kill the Wolf, while Morgan still believes that "all life is precious" even the most evil and foul ones - blood-shot eyes, yellow teeth, threatening to kill you and all. Because of their fight, the Wolf was able to escape with Denise as hostage. Tara, Rosita and Eugene arrive just in time but the Wolf threatens to kill Denise if anyone tries to do anything. As for Maggie, she's trapped on the watch post with walkers clawing at her from below. Glenn and Enid see her from afar and that's about how close they could get to each other for now.
In the last scene of the episode, the group in Jessie's house covered themselves in zombie guts to disguise themselves. Rick and the others manage to "tiptoe" out of the house without a sound until Jessie's son, Sam, calls out to her mom. What a waste of zombie guts and figurative guts!
In the meantime, the prologue for the next chapter of the season shows Daryl, Abraham and Sasha face a group of armed men in motorcycles blocking the road. One of the men says that their property now belongs to Negan. Now, who is Negan? In the graphic novel, Negan is the sociopathic leader of a group called the "Saviors" who offer protection from walkers to communities like Alexandria in exchange for supplies. Negan is to be played by Grey's Anatomy alum, Jeffrey Dean Morgan. He is set to appear sometime in the second half of the season.
Negan wields a weapon precious to him which he calls "Lucille". Lucille is a baseball bat covered in barbed wire which he used to kill Glenn in the comics. It was Negan's first appearance in the comics during that encounter. On screen, Daryl, Sasha and Abraham might be the ones who would see him first. Many have been speculating that Daryl might fill in for comic Glenn's death on TV. That death in the 100th issue of "The Walking Dead" comics was so big that they might do it on another big character in the TV Series and it's not necessarily Glenn. After all that "Is Glenn dead or alive?" drama in the first half of the season, the producers might go easy on him this time. But then, if fan-favorite Daryl dies, there will definitely be a riot.
Daryl, Sasha and Abraham were attacked by people who are most likely the Saviors and had killed some of the attackers. Negan might want some revenge and kills one of them.
