The Back to the Future inspired animated television series Rick and Morty is in order for Season 3. The third installment will let Rick pause time once again, however, will stray away from time travel but may foresee a crossover with Disney's Gravity Falls.

Earlier this year, Adult Swim confirmed the renewal of Rick and Morty for Season 3 even before the Season 2 concluded. Creators Justin Roiland and Dan Harmon tease in a post by Realty Today that Rick (Justin Roiland) will have different adventures which will not involve time travel, the opposite of the movie Back to the Future which is the series' premise.

In the first episode of Season 2, Rick interfering with time brought about consequences and resulted in disconnecting realities. Only Rick was able to merge the realities together in A Rickle in Time and both creators also cleared out that Rick never travelled, only they delayed it for several instances.

The long wait for third season of Rick and Morty has created a lot of speculations on news of its release as well as the number of episodes ordered for the Season 3. Contrary to the news on Rick and Morty Season 3 having 19 episodes, co-creator Justin Roiland already blew off the speculations in a tweet shared by Enstarz.

Additional news that springs across the internet lately, including that of KDramastars, is the Rick and Morty - Gravity Falls crossover. Both animated series belong to the sci-fi genre and Rick and Morty's co-creator Justin Roiland had worked with Disney, the similarities which were the basis for the crossover rumors. However, no official announcement yet were made regarding the crossover.

Rick and Morty Season 3 is set to air on 5 March 2017. A Christmas Special of Rick and Morty will air on 11 December 2015. The story arc for the special series is outside Rick and Morty's timeline.
