Michael Schumacher Recovery News: Close friends admit to regular visits, reveal F1 legend shows signs of improvement

Michael Schumacher continues the fight for recovery following his devastating accident in the French Alps in December 2013. Close friends reveal that the athlete has showed signs of improvement during their regular visits to his treatment facility.

According to the Mirror, one of Michael Schumacher's close friends admitted to visiting him regularly and shed some light on the F1 champion's road to recovery. Ross Brawn, former motorsport engineer and F1 team principal who ran Schumacher's Ferrari team in the past, revealed that he continues to keep in touch with the famous athlete's family.

He said, "I do keep in touch [with Schumacher's family], but we try and keep a balance of going to see him against calling, and not being a pain. I've been to see him a few times; Corinna, his wife, calls me occasionally and keeps me updated. We just keep praying every day that he'll recover to a stage where...it's slow, but there's always hope."

Brawn served as technical director for Benetton and Ferrari and contributed largely to Schumacher's dominance in the world of Formula One. It was reported that the pair earned Ferrari numerous world title wins. Brawn retired in February 2014 following speculation linking him with other teams in the sport.

In a separate report by the Telegraph, another of Schumacher's friends revealed that the F1 legend is still battling with recovery. Jean Todt, FIA President and Schumacher's boss to Ferrari, said that he remains close to the athlete's family and also visits him in his home care facility on a regular basis. He said, "Michael is a close friend, his family is very close to me, and I'm very close to them as well... "I see Michael very often, and Michael is still fighting, and we must keep fighting with the family."

Schumacher is currently being cared for at a £10 million medical treatment facility built in his Swiss home. He is under the attention of a 15-man medical team for round-the-clock observation with various police and security personnel posted around his estate to protect his privacy.

The seven-time Formula One champion sustained severe injuries and was placed under a medically-induced coma following the events of a skiing accident in the French Alps last December 2013. He was later moved to his estate in Geneva for further rehabilitation after he was lifted from the coma.

Schumacher's wife Corinna and their two children Mick and Gina Marie continue to guard their privacy as well as details of the retired racer's health condition. According to Australia Network News, visitation rights are reserved for close friends and family members only. Communication with media outlets is strictly confined to official reports from friend and spokesperson Sabine Kehm.

The 46-year old retired German racing driver is highly regarded as one of the greatest Formula One racers in history. He was named the Laureus World Sportsman of the Year twice and won seven championship titles before retiring in 2012.
