Rare's Sea of Thieves to Appear Again Next Year

By

Earlier in November, fans were met with disappointment when they received news that the upcoming game, Sea of Thieves, won't be making an appearance at least until 2016.

On November 1, 2015, user Kim Lee (Nicodemus9) asked Aaron Greenburg, head of first-party and third-party development for Xbox, if they would be seeing more about the game, to which Aaron replied "more next year."

Sea of Thieves, which was announced at E3 2015, will be themed around pirates. It will also have elements of first-person gameplay, which is said to be a shared world for multiplayer purposes as well as user-generated worlds. Its developer described the project as "by far the most ambitious game Rare has ever created." during the Xbox conference, causing some hype within the gaming community. In a separate interview with OXM (via GamesRadar), Kuno Tsunoda, an executive of Xbox, creative director of Kinect and former head of EA Chicago among other things, claims that Sea of Thieves "is gonna be the best game that Rare has ever made." and talked about how Rare would show off 30 years in the industry and let players create their own stories, memories and attachments in the game.

Rare Games is a British game development company that was formerly a second-party developer for Nintendo before it was bought by Microsoft and has been concentrating on developing games for Microsoft consoles since. Throughout their long history, they brought many gamers titles such as Banjo Kazooie, Conker's Bad Fur Day, Donkey Kong Country and Star Fox Adventures. Recently, to celebrate their 30th anniversary, they released the Rare Replay compilation bundle on Xbox One, featuring 30 game titles from their 30 years of history, including classic titles like Kameo, Banjo Kazooie, Battletoads and Perfect Dark.

Sea of Thieves is slated for release on Window 10 and Xbox One. As of yet, a release date has not been revealed.
