iPhone 7 Update: Apple making 5 prototypes for 2016 iPhone; Will next iPhone have AMOLED display?

By

Apple is reportedly developing five prototypes for the 2016 iPhone 7, each with its own unique features and design. The next iPhone might use traditional LCD screens instead of trendy AMOLED displays.

The iPhone 7 is expected to launch in next year's Apple event. Presently, Apple is reportedly making 5 prototypes for the iPhone 7 as per GforGames. Each build has its own unique technical features and design specifications for testing. Some noteworthy features include multi-Touch, wireless charging, dual camera settings, fingerprint recognition, and USB Type-C connector.

The report said that Apple is experimenting with AMOLED screen technology. However, it will not be until 2018 when the first iPhone with AMOLED display will be available.

The Cupertino giant has not confirmed any technical specifications that will be included in the iPhone 7. It is not sure whether Apple will be materializing all five designs for the market.

International Business Times said that the iPhone 7 could be the thinnest Apple iPhone ever made, with only 6.1mm thickness. Apple could be doing away with the headphone jack to make the iPhone thinner.

There are also rumors that the iPhone 7 will have no home button and the screen will reach right up to the edge of the device as per The Week. Another rumor based on a patent filed by Apple suggests that the iPhone 7 will be equipped with solar cells.

Earlier reports on iPhone 7 rumors say that the next Apple phone will be waterproof. The current iPhone 6s and 6s Plus are more water resistant compared to earlier units.

An Apple patent suggests that the iPhone 7 could be sporting a "panic button". This could be made possible with a fingerprint scanner that will be used to lock the phone. The panic button mode will make personal data inaccessible unless the owner authorizes it.

One improvement that users will anticipate for in the iPhone 7 is improved battery life. However, reports indicate that Apple will not be improving the iPhone 7's battery life since it would need "significant sacrifices" in other aspects.
