Eagles of Death Metal Performs Back On Paris Stage With U2

By

Irish rock band, U2, performed their last batch of concert in Paris, sharing the stage with their brother guests, Eagles of Death Metal.

U2's lead singer, Bono, gave a heartfelt introduction welcoming Eagles of Death Metal to give their own performance.

"Some people whose lives will forever be a part of the city of Paris," Bono described and continued. "These are our brothers. Our fellow troubadours. They were robbed of their stage three weeks ago, and we would like to offer them ours tonight."

As reported by BBC, two of the scheduled concerts of U2 were postponed when France announced a state of emergency. But this cancellation is incomparably better compared to what the Eagles of Death Metal had to go through during the attacks.

According to People, the American band was performing at Bataclan concert hall when suddenly a group of armed people attacked the place killing 89 innocents. None of the band members were harmed but three employees of their record label and the group's merchandising manager were killed in the incident.

Now, the band has made their first return and onstage performance in Paris since the terror attacks with the support of U2. Both bands gave their best and united in remembering the 130 people who died during the attacks in Paris.

Eagles of Death Metal's performance came toward the end of U2's concert, CNN reports. The audience was swept away with the band's cover of Patti Smith's "People Have the Power" as they waved their arms and sang along.

After the show, Eagles of Death Metal took to their Facebook page to thank U2 for letting them borrow their stage.

"We are incredibly grateful to U2 for providing us the opportunity to return to Paris so quickly, and to share in the healing power of rock 'n' roll with so many of the beautiful people -- nos amis -- of this great city."

U2 in return expressed their appreciation for their guest. "We lent you our stage," a tweet from U2 said, "but you owned it."

Both bands ended up receiving admiration from their fans, not just by dedicating songs for Paris but also for serving as a joy and inspiration amidst the crisis.
