Hilcorp Energy Co. gave each of its 1,381 employees $100,000 for hitting its five year goal.
According to a report from the Sydney Morning Herald the bonus is part of the Houston-based company's incentive program called "Dream 2015." The reward is given after the company hit its goal of doubling production rate in its oilfield, has reserve, equity value, and net oil in a span of five years.
Fox 26 reports the experience of Amanda Thompson, a receptionist at Hilcorp for 10 years, who shared the joy of her coworkers, saying, "It is a true gift." She said that everyone is motivated to give no less than their 100%.
She said, "And I think myself, as long as everyone else is not going to give any less than one-hundred percent each day."
The Financial Post wrote that this is not the first time that Hilcorp gave a hefty bonus to its workers. The giant privately-owned oil and natural gas company has given its employees a choice to receive a $50,000 car or a $35,000 cash bonus back in they year 2010. This was given after the company hit its five-year goals.
After its founder and CEO Jeffrey Hildebrand gave those bonuses, the company was ranked top 20 "Best Companies to Work For" in Fortune's list. Now, the company is still part of the 2015 FORTUNE 100 Best Companies to Work For list.
Thompson said she is very happy to be working for such amazing bosses, which includes the company's president Greg Lalicker.
"When you suggest an idea to upper management, they really listen to you and most of the time they will go along with the idea you suggested," said an employee of the company. "I never had that before with any other company."
These big incentives come as other energy companies are cutting jobs due to the oil price decline.
