Xiaomi Mi 5 Specs, Release Date: January 2016 debut seen with Android 6.0 Marshmallow OS, 3D Touch Screen Fingerprint Sensor

While its launching and release are still unconfirmed several rumors are still swirling around the Xiaomi Mi 5. The new handset is rumored to be smaller compared to previously revealed photos, but will house new features.

As reported by India Today, new photos rumored to be of the anticipated Xiaomi Mi 5 were leaked online featuring a different look than the alleged earleir photos of the device. The new photo shows a smaller 5-inch frame compared to the previously revealed 5.2-inch display. It will also feature a home button where the finger print scanner will be located and it will be situated below the main display which would be a first for the brand.

Moreover, aside from its relatively smaller display, International Business Times reported that the new handset will have the latest features. It is rumored to be released with Android 6.0 Marshmallow OS, the new Snapdragon 820 quad-core processor, 4GB of RAM, and 32GB and 64GB variants of internal storage.

It is also speculated to feature more sophisticated cameras with the front facing 5MP wide-angle camera, and the 16MP rear shooter with dual LED flash, and Phase Detection Auto Focus. It is also claimed to feature advanced 3D fingerprint sensor, 3D Touch display sensor, USB Type-C Port, Wi-fi, and Bluetooth. The Xiaomi Mi 5 is also rumored to be released with a 3030mAh battery.

While different release dates have been associated with the handset, no confirmed date has been released yet. As reported by Yahoo, the device was previously rumored to be released in August 05, which was later changed to November 2015 when the release did not happen. It was eventually speculated to be released in December 03 which also did not take place.

It is still unknown whether the handset will actually be released but current rumors suggest that it might hit the shelves in January 21, 2016. However, until official details are out, rumors about the Xiaomi Mi 5 must be treated with a grain of salt.
