"I am cancer-free," the 59-year-old actress Rita Wilson happily announced.
The actress best known recently for "Girls" was diagnosed with breast cancer in March this year. Despite this rather scary news, Wilson remained positive as she courageously battled against this illness. Her co-stars and actor husband, Tom Hanks, along with her fans, have gone their ways to support the actress in the difficult period. Now, she personally delivers the good news saying, "I'm 100 percent healthy!"
The following month after Wilson was diagnosed, she immediately took a medical leave from the Broadway show, "Fish in the Dark," to undergo a double mastectomy and reconstructive surgery. As it is, both treatments were successful and Wilson expressed thanks for the support she'd received from her family, friends, co-stars and other well-wishers.
"I am overwhelmed with gratitude by your prayers and good wishes and kindness you're sending. Thank you. Thank you." She wrote in her Twitter.
Now that she's cancer free, Wilson is not wasting any of her time and is set to go on tour starting on February 2016, as reported by People. The 59-year-old actress also shared that her husband, Tom Hanks, will be in tow.
Aside from the fact that she's going on her first tour with her band and her ever-supportive and loving husband, Wilson expresses that this tour holds a special meaning in her life.
"I feel really blessed and very lucky," Wilson shared. "Part of the reason for going on tour is that I want to show people that you can have cancer, and you can still be out there doing what you love to do, and it's not a death sentence like it used to be."
Now that Wilson's up and about, fans can expect her in her upcoming tour and her co-produced sequel movie "My Big Fat Greek Wedding 2."
