The Apple iPad Pro and Microsoft Surface Pro 4 fight neck-to-neck in a specs and features comparison battle. Microsoft's hybrid beats Apple's tablet with more processor options and Windows 10 for a full PC experience.
Apple and Microsoft launched two of the best tablets of 2015 - the iPad Pro and the Surface Pro 4. Both are great tablets, but each can do certain tasks better than the other. For creative work and media consumption, the iPad Pro is the perfect tablet. For laptop replacement and more productivity, the Microsoft Surface Pro 4 is a powerful tablet that can get much work done.
Laptop Mag compared the two tablets in a report, in which the Microsoft Surface Pro 4 emerged as the winner. The report stated that the Apple iPad Pro is more suited for creative work with its giant 12.9" display, quad speakers, Apple Pencil, and Smart Keyboard. The Apple Pencil simulates a real-like drawing experience when used with the iPad Pro. However, it costs an additional $99.
Another drawback for the iPad Pro is its limited specs options. Know Your Mobile reported that the iPad Pro is available only in three variants: one 32GB variant, one 128GB unit without 4G, and one 128GB with 4G.
The Microsoft Surface Pro 4 comes with more processor options ranging from an Intel Skylake Core M3 to a Core i7. It also has more storage options from 128GB to 512GB and RAM size of 4GB to 16GB. However, the better the specs, the pricier the device will cost.
The biggest advantage that the Surface Pro 4 has over the iPad Pro is the Windows 10 OS. Microsoft's platform is more versatile and offers more flexibility than Apple's iOS 9. Tech Radar reported that Windows 10 can give more productivity to the user than iOS 9 with its Windows Snap feature for multitasking. Typical Windows applications like Microsoft Office and Adobe apps can also run on the device.
In terms of battery life, the Apple iPad Pro can last up to 10 hours on maximum usage. The Microsoft Surface Pro 4 only has a 6-hour battery life since its Intel Core processors require much power for better performance.
