With the latest figures posted about the sales of the most popular smartphones in the world, Samsung and Apple's combined revenue overtook the profit figure of the entire mobile carrier industry.
According to a recent study by Canaccord Genuity, Apple and Samsung accounted for 103% of all the profits reported by handset vendors all over the world. The global investment bank called the feat "astounding", marking the two products as legendary items in the industry's long history.
The reason behind the overwhelming success of the two titans was easily handed to them, analysts said. One month prior to the release of the iPhone 5 and the Samsung Galaxy S4, closest rivals BlackBerry, Nokia, and Motorola all posted dismal returns and sunk into deep levels.
In the research, the only other smartphone manufacturer who managed to produce a figure more than 1% was the Taiwanese company HTC.
Canaccord calculated the industry profits by summing the margins of mobile device operators for every major sellers of smartphones.
