A citation spotted on Geekbeench database said to show a list of the international unlocked version of the Galaxy S6 (SM-G920F) with Android 6.0 Marshmallow stated as its official operating system. It is suggested that the release will take place in January 2016.
The Android Headlines reports that the Samsung Galaxy S6 will not be the only device from Samsung to receive the latest Android 6.0 Marshmallow. The Company is reportedly gearing up its other devices for Google's latest OS.
In fact, the Galaxy Note 4 which is the company's last-generation flagship phablet was allegedly seen running Android 6.0 a few days ago. In addition, it is said that the latest phablet Galaxy Note 5 is also about to get the latest upgrade as it was spotted last month where the Marshmallow ROM was deceptively incorrectly released as an OTA update to at least one Galaxy Note 5 phablet from the T-Mobile in the US.
A report from Sam Mobile states that the Samsung Galaxy Note 5, Galaxy Note 4, Galaxy Note 4 Duos, Galaxy Note Edge, Galaxy S6 edge+, Galaxy S6 edge, Galaxy S6, Galaxy S6 Duos, Galaxy S5, Galaxy S5 Neo, and Galaxy S5 LTE-A will be the twelve devices from Samsung that will receive the latest mobile Operating system, Android 6.0 Marshmallow, in Q1 2016.
Furthermore, the Galaxy Alpha, the Galaxy Tab A, the Galaxy Tab S2 8.0, and the Galaxy Tab S2 9.7 will also be receiving this newest update. As for these devices, they are reported to receive it during Q2 2016.
As a refresher, the flagship Samsung galaxy S6 comes in 5.1-inch Super AMOLED QHD (2560×1440 pixels) display with a pixel density of 577ppi. Samsung's homebrew Exynos 7420 octa-core (2.1GHz quad-core+1.5GHz quad-core) chipset is the one that supplies power for this handset and is being backed by 3GB of RAM. In addition, it has 32GB, 64GB and 128GB of internal storage, but it doesn't have an option to be expanded for a bigger memory, BGR noted.
It currently runs on Android 5.1 Lollipop wrapped under TouchWiz UI.k after the update. It comes bundled with a 2,550mAh battery with Ultra Power Saving Mode, wireless charging and fast charging capabilities.
For camera configuration, the Samsung galaxy S6 carries a 16-megapixel primary camera of aperture f/1.9 with optical image stabilization and a 5-megapixel selfie-snapper. It also supports connectivity features including, 4G LTE, NFC, IR Blaster, Wi-Fi and Bluetooth 4.1.
The Samsung galaxy S6 that will reportedly receive the Android 6.0 Marshmallow in January 2016 has been actually launched in April. This device was carrying price tags of Rs 49,900 and Rs 55,900 for its 32GB and 64GB versions. On the other hand, this flagship can now be purchased for Rs 36,255 for 32GB and Rs 47,900 for 64GB variant.
