The "country's most-watched TV event of the year," the Super Bowl, will be graced by an all-star packed performers in February 2016.
National Football League (NFL) made the announcement during halftime of Thursday night's game between the Green Bay Packers and Detroit Lions on CBS and NFL Network. Missy Elliot and Lenny Kravitz performed as special guests during the event.
Coldplay is set perform the half-time show at Super Bowl 50 - with Chris Martin describing it as the "greatest moment" in the band's career. They also added, "We are going to give it everything we have." For decades now, Coldplay has been ushering millions with their great music, no wonder the band will definitely do the same.
The announcement came prior to their latest album release entitled, A Head Full of Dreams, perceived to be timely to further boost their sales once they perform during the Super Bowl event. The band will play at Santa Clara, California's Levi Stadium, which is the home of the home of the San Francisco 49ers.
Many believed that Coldplay will "definitely smash it with their incredible live act." Back in 2011, The Black Eyed Peas included Slash and Usher, while Madonna brought LMFAO and Nicki Minaj in 2012, and Katy Perry welcomed Missy Elliott and Lenny Kravitz the previous year. "Perry's performance topped Bruno Mars and the Red Hot Chili Peppers' performance, garnering 115.3 million viewers.
Indeed Super Bowl will be having a star-studded halftime show, since Coldplay will be joined by Beyoncé and Bruno Mars with their performances, according to reports.
The Super Bowl is scheduled for Sunday, Feb. 7, 2016. Super Bowl does not pay artist to perform but are reimbursed with their travel costs and tremendous exposure transpiring in increase of their album sales, and concert tickets.
There are also a number of associated music performances expected during the event.
