Barely has any time passed since the big reveal on the identity of the Red Devil but everyone it seems are already talking about "Scream Queens" Season 2. Although the series was initially intended to follow another Ryan Murphy series, American Horror Story's anthology format of starting fresh each season, recent pronouncements from Murphy prove otherwise.
Season 1 ended with a cliffhanger where Hester, who was revealed to be the killer, quite literally got away with murder. The Chanels landed in an asylum where they seem to have found peace. Even if there really isn't much of a guarantee that the series will be renewed by Fox, several rumors have been going around of what next season will be like.
Murphy revealed that three to four cast members survive from last season. In "Scream Queens" Season 2, the survivors move to a new place where they have to fight a new killer. We now know that the survivors were Chad, Denise, the Dean, The Chanels, Hester, Wes, Grace and Zaydey. Meanwhile, Christian Today reports that Murphy in the same forum revealed that there will be 10 new characters that will be introduced in the new season.
Keke Palmer who plays Zayday Williams, revealed what she thought of the rumored Summer Camp theme of the new season,"I loved the idea of the Summer Camp. I love that because it reminds me of Jason [from Friday the 13th], it reminds me of horror movies that I grew up watching and loving."
Keke added that she would love to see how Ryan Murphy flips the theme on its head. For her at least, it would be like living a horror movie but in a funny way.
The two-hour Season 1 finale registered 2.53 million viewers according to TV By The Numbers to become one of the show's top five rating episodes and somehow allowed the series to salvage itself from its midseason dip in ratings. While the show might not be delivering good overnight ratings, it was making up on good numbers for delayed viewing. If it is enough for Fox to renew the series for another season remains to be seen.
Murphy and Lea Michele seem confident that "Scream Queens" Season 2 will be picked up. Lea mentioned a possible renewal in an earlier interview and even hinted that her character will come back to be the victim this time. She also hinted that Emma Roberts will be coming back with her.
Murphy on the other hand revealed that he had already pitched the story idea for the new season to Fox executives who were excited about it.
