The result of Cory Montieth's autopsy was announced today by the British Columbia Coroners Service. According to them, the television actor died from "a mixed toxicity, involving heroin and alcohol."

Furthermore, the statement from the coroner read, "There is no evidence to suggest Mr. Monteith's death was anything other than a most-tragic accident." However, the result was not yet definitive. The Coroner's Office said that they are still continuing the investigation regarding the cause of death of the 'Glee' leading star.

The issue of illicit drug use sparked along with the news of the actor's passing. According to the Federal Government, they recognized the consequences of the illegal drug trade on the economy and the American workforce.

The negative impact of substance abuse in the United States was estimated at almost US$200 billion, according to a figure from the WhiteHouse.gov. Productivity losses in the economy amounted to US$120 billion, while US$11 billion in healthcare fund was burnt due to illicit drugs.
