The new BMW M2, showcased at the 2016 Detroit Auto Show, is priced at $52,695 with a $995 destination fee.

Motor Authority reported that the new car will be officially released to the market this April. This car is unique with a strong straight-sic engine, rear-wheel-drive dynamics, and a compact size. It has revolutionized compact car performance in the world. It is reminiscent to the E36 and E46 M3s.

The car comes with a four-cylinder engine and optional front- or all-wheel drive configurations.

BMW takes its entry-level coup line to brand new heights with the M2, according to the Kelley Blue Book. The car's design and mechanics are inspired by the M-spec 3.0 liter TwinPower Turbo inline-6 from the present M3/M4 engines. It kicks a 365 horsepower and brings 343 lb-ft of torque from 1,400 to 5,560 rpm. That means it has70+ more twist units compared to its predecessor M3. The car also comes with an overboost function that can bring that number to 369 lb ft.

It has the capacity to reach 60 mph in just 4.4 seconds, wth its 6-speed manual. Its top speed is 155 mph. It offers amazing fuel efficiency as its accessories are strategically managed, and it features Brake Energy Regeneration and Auto Start Stop.

MSN wrote that the BMW M2 is available on seven-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission. Meanwhile, the 2016 X4 M40i, which joins the ranks of the range-topping X4 family, is priced at $58,795. It is $8,100 more expensive than X4 xDrive35i. The X4 M40i also has a 3.0-liter turbo-six, like the M2. However, it only brings 355 horsepower. Its suspension has some modification to give it superior handling capabilities.

BMW M2's price range means its major rival is the Mercedes-AMG CLA45, Audi's RS 3, which is not available in the US, and the Chevrolet Camaro SS, which is something buyers could also consider.
