Disgraced golf superstar Tiger Woods is set to play at this week's British Open. Woods, currently the world's highest paid golfer with a net worth of over US$590 million, will tee off at the British Open Championship in Gullane, Scotland.
The golfer's total value is more than all of the combined fortunes of the other golfers in the top 10 wealthiest list in the sport. Woods also holds the position of wealthiest active athlete in his chosen sport, beating out tennis' Roger Federer who is valued at US$180 million, and basketball's Kobe Bryant which has a net worth of US$220 million. The data was collated from ultra high-net worth data provider Wealth-X.
The third men's major series of 2013 will mark the return of Woods to the sport since his stint at the US Open last month.
Woods gained an increase in his offseason income due to sponsorship deals with luxury watch maker Rolex and shoe maker Nike.
