Korean flat screen producer LG Display Co. stated yesterday that it plans on expanding its smartphone customer pool. The company said that diversifying the customer base would increase the company's revenue in the second half of the year.
Recently, LG Display Co. revealed their financial data which showed a 53% increase in operating profit for each quarter. The company supplies its merchandise to tech titan Apple, but mobile display deliveries to the iPhone manufacturer have been slow. The Korean display maker said that despite this, stable prices of their bigger TV screens helped counter the Apple drag.
LG Display did not explicitly say that Apple is their client, but sources believe that Apple receive most of LG Display's mobile screen shipments.
"In the smartphone business, a specific customer accounts for a relatively high portion" of our sales," said James Jeong, chief financial officer of LG Display, in an interview with analysts after the company's disclosure of profit.
