Actor and real-life police officer in Chicago, Dennis Farina died on Monday morning at the age of 69. Lori De Waal, Farina's publicist, stated that the actor died after suffering from a blood clot found in his lung in a hospital in Scottsdale, Arizona.
"I was stunned and saddened to hear about Dennis' unexpected passing this morning," Dick Wolf, creator of NBC's Law & Order, stated on Monday. "The Law & Order family extends sympathy and condolences to his family. He was a great guy."
Farina played different roles in productions on the television like Crime Story, Midnight Run and Miami Vice. He also ventured out of cops-and-robbers roles by taking on comedy parts in That Old Feeling in 1997 and dramatic roles in Saving Private Ryan in 1998.
The American film and television actor became famous for his roles in Midnight Run and Get Shorty. His net worth was US$8 million. He also won an American Comedy Award for his role in Empire Falls, a film made by HBO in 2005.
