The managing director of Waitrose, the retail food division of John Lewis Partnership, is now the Deputy Chairman of Britain's largest employee-owned retailer. Mark Price will still continue to serve as the managing director of Waitrose, a position which he has held since April 2007. He has been with the John Lewis Partnership since 1982. He is set to assume the role of deputy chairman in addition to his responsibilities in Waitrose in August. Price will succeed David Barclay who will end his final term as non-executive director but will continue to be with the company as Chair of the Remuneration Committee until February 2014.
John Lewis Partnership Chairman Charlie Mayfield says he is delighted at Price's appointment. "In his 31 years with the Partnership, Mark has worked across John Lewis, Waitrose and group roles and is well placed to take on this additional leadership role at a Partnership level as we continue to grow our business," Mayfield said in a press release.
