Zenefits gets US $2.1 mln seed capital

Zenefits, a startup company handling payroll, benefits and human resources, secured US $2.1 million seed capital from angel investors and a roster of venture firms. The said round was led by Maverick Capital and Venrock.

The funding includes the initial US $372,000 capital it was able to raise from Yuri Milner, Andreessen Horowitz, General Catalyst, Justin Kan, Garry Tan and Alexis Ohanian

With the new funding, Zenefits will be expanding its team to 12. A company statement said that it is seeking to add more teams in the next year. The company's client portfolio showed it is now serving 100 customers with employees ranging from two to more than 100. They are also raking in around ten customers every week.

Also joining the latest round are angel investors with recognizable names. They include Aaron Levie, Quora co-founder Charlie Cheever; Aaron Levie, Box co-founder and CEO; Matt MacInnis, Inkling co-founder and CEO.
