Legal experts claimed Elon Musk could greatly benefit if former President Donald Trump returns to the White House. They said that if Trump wins the 2024 presidential election, it would favor the tech billionaire and other wealthy individuals like him.
Elon Musk Can Benefit From Donald Trump's 2024 Presidential Win
According to NBC News, Elon Musk is facing at least 11 separate regulatory or legal battles under the Biden administration or independent federal agencies.
His ongoing battles with seven government agencies covered various subjects, from unions to vehicle safety to privacy issues on social media platform X, formerly known as Twitter.
Some experts in regulatory law told NBC News that if Donald Trump wins in the November election, the world's richest person would likely gain from relaxed enforcement.
Richard Pierce, a law professor at George Washington University specializing in government regulation, told the outlet that Musk "would be in much less trouble" if Trump wins again because the former president "shares his hostility to regulation and regulators."
Angela Aneiros, an assistant professor of law at Gonzaga University and a co-director of the university's Center of Law, Ethics & Commerce, also told NBC News that a "second Trump term could very well shift the administrative and regulatory state in ways that would benefit Musk's companies."
"A second term, if it happens, will result in federal agencies' shifting their focus away from investigations into regulatory compliance issues," she added.
Trump has repeatedly said that if he becomes president again, he will make efforts to slash government regulations. Experts believe that Trump would appoint regulators who would bring a lighter touch to probing the tech billionaire's businesses.
Will Elon Musk Vote for Donald Trump?
Elon Musk is not vocal about who will get his vote in the 2024 presidential election. But last November, he said he does not see himself voting for President Joe Biden, according to Deadline.
"I think I would not vote for Biden... I am not saying I would vote for Trump but I mean... this is definitely a difficult choice here," Musk said during a 90-minute appearance at the New York Times DealBook Summit.
Musk admitted that his issue with Biden stemmed from the White House not including Tesla in an event on electric vehicles that it hosted several months after Biden took office.
The Tesla CEO also recalled that Biden even added "insult to injury" by praising General Motors for leading the "electric car revolution."
