Online dog service Rover.com gets investment fromPetco

Online dog service Rover.com said it raised US $3.5 million in additional funding in around led by Petco. Existing investors Crunchfund, Madrona Venture Group and Rolling Bay Ventures also joined the round.

Ted Root, Petco VP for Business Development, said they are pleased to help Rover further grow its business after having established itself in the industry.

"Both of our companies share a love for dogs and a vision to provide dog owners with the most affordable, trusted solutions possible," he said. "We are committed to the partnership and excited about the opportunities ahead."

Rover.com works by connecting dog owners with dog sitters. To date, its community has already grown to include at least 150,000 members and numerous dog sitters in more than 4,300 locations in the U.S.

"Our revenue is twenty times what it was a year ago - and four times what it was three months ago. This partnership will help further accelerate the growth of our in-home dog care solution," Rover CEO Aaron Easterly said.
