GM is trying to rescue Tesla interns affected by Elon Musk's mass layoffs. Many EV company interns recently shared their disappointment after receiving email notices that they were being removed from the Tesla summer internship program. Now, General Motors Co. is trying to lure them.
GM Now Luring Tesla Interns Affected by Elon Musk's Layoffs
According to BNN Bloomberg's latest report, GM is taking advantage of Elon Musk's Tesla downsizing by luring interns to work for them instead. Laura del Amo, a GM talent sourcing strategist, is already doing it on LinkedIn.
"In light of recent industry news, GM is extending an invite to software students who may have been impacted from the changes in Tesla's upcoming summer internship cohort," she said via her official LinkedIn post.
She added that they believe in the strength of the GM automotive community and are keen to integrate diverse talents into their team. Laura told those looking for a new internship opportunity to connect with her so they can start their plans.
What GM Says About Luring Tesla Interns
Business Insider reported that Laura del Amo didn't respond when asked about General Motors' efforts to lure Tesla interns. However, an American automaker spokesperson discussed it in an email statement.
The GM official admitted they are looking to source new talents in various areas. These include electrification, software development, and engineering.
The GM spokesperson added that they welcome applications to their popular internship programs. This latest effort from General Motors is a big deal for Tesla interns, whose summer plans were ruined after getting pulled out of Tesla's summer internship program.
