Singapore-based StarHub subscribers reported a service disruption that persisted for at least two hours, on Thursday, May 30, leaving people without internet connection.
StarHub Users Report Internet Disruptions
Many customers in Singapore, including those in Punggol, Sengkang, Hougang, Yishun, and Ang Mo Kio, reported disruptions on StarHub's Facebook page, according to The Straits Times. Some customers even went so far as to say that the outages prevented them from working from home.
On Thursday, at 11:31 AM SGT, there were 993 complaints recorded on the outage tracking site Downdetector, with the highest number of reports reaching 6,987 at 11:46 AM. Even after 1:00 PM, over 500 reports had been recorded.
According to Downdetector, it automatically detects events and service interruptions in their early stages by monitoring and analyzing signals from platforms in real-time.
Two-Hour Internet Outage Occurred
In a Facebook post made at 12:16 PM, StarHub apologized for the trouble and stated it was fixing the problem with its fixed broadband services.
At 12:40 PM, the social media post was updated to add that the services had been "partially restored" and to advise consumers to power cycle their devices once again. A few commentators on the site, nevertheless, complained that they were still unable to go online after 1:00 PM.
Another update was given by StarHub at 2:10 PM, stating that its fixed broadband services are now operational again. In the event that users continue to have issues when attempting to connect to the network, they are advised to turn off and on their devices.
