Lionsgate President Shares Excitement for Michael Jackson Biopic

Jim Packer said he expects the Michael Jackson biopic-a spin-off of Lionsgate's library business and film and TV production-to be their next franchise machine.

"It's clear it's going to be an IP-focused company. It's going to produce, distribute, film, and TV," said the Lionsgate president via The Hollywood Reported.

He shared his excitement, saying that the buzz they get whenever a new photo is released is crazy. Because of all the attention the Michael Jackson biopic is getting, he said it would be their largest movie ever.

The Lionsgate president said that the upcoming Michael Jackson film isn't comparable to "Harry Potter." However, he said it could be on the same footing from a financial and IP standpoint.

What To Expect From Michael Jackson Biopic

According to CBR's latest report, the new Michael Jackson biopic is directed by Antoine Fuqua, the Hollywood director behind "The Equalizer," "Tears of the Sun," and "Olympus Has Fallen."

However, among the most exciting parts of this new biographical film is that it will feature the "Thriller" music video recreation. This was already revealed in the set of images taken from the final days of the movie shoot.

The new Michael Jackson biopic, which John Logan wrote, will focus on the iconic pop star's personal life and career. It will explore his childhood fame as a Jackson 5 member, his solo career, and his death in 2009.
