Howard University has decided to revoke Sean "Diddy" Combs' honorary degree and return his $1 million donation. This decision comes in light of the music mogul's increasing number of abuse accusations.
Howard University Revokes Sean Diddy Combs' Degree
Howard University's Board of Trustees has made the decision to revoke Combs' degree, which was awarded to him by the historically black university in Washington, DC in 2014. Additionally, the university has chosen to sever all connections with the rapper.
No financial contributions have been made by the Sean Combs Foundation towards the $1 million pledge as of this date.
Therefore, there are no funds that need to be returned according to the 2023 pledge agreement, New York Post reported.
The Historical Black University (HBCU) announced their decision regarding the 54-year-old rapper.
They stated that the decision was made in response to the release of a shocking video showing a physical assault by Diddy on his ex Cassie, which came out last month.
Diddy's Assault Video Spurs Consequences
A video showed the rapper without a shirt, wearing a towel around his waist, chasing Cassie down the hall at the InterContinental Hotel in Century City. He then proceeded to grab and kick her.
The mogul has faced significant consequences following the release of a shocking video, including the sale of his majority stake in his media company Revolt.
This comes amidst mounting sexual assault lawsuits and a federal sex-trafficking probe. In November 2023, Diddy made the decision to temporarily step down as the chairman of Revolt.
However, it was reported in March that Diddy had sold his shares to an undisclosed buyer for an undisclosed fee.
According to Daily Mail, Diddy is currently involved in eight lawsuits that involve allegations of rape, physical abuse, sex trafficking, racketeering, and other serious crimes. These lawsuits span across a period of 30 years.
