Millions of Miniverse Toy Sets Recalled for Health Risks by MGA Entertainment

By

A large number of Miniverse toy sets manufactured by MGA Entertainment have been recalled due to the potential danger.

The recall pertains to the "Make it Mini" sets, which include resins that can cause injuries and irritations to both young children and adults when in liquid form.

Miniverse Toy Sets Recalled

According to CNN, the CPSC has discovered that the resins contain chemical compounds known as "acrylates" in quantities that are not allowed in products intended for children.

Once the resins have cured and transformed into a solid form, they no longer pose any risk, according to the agency.

In an email to CNN, Isaac Larian, CEO of MGA, stated that the toy had been available for 18 months. He also estimated that a small percentage, between 10% to 15%, of the recalled toys still contain liquid resin.

Hazardous Incident Reports

MGA Entertainment got 26 reports of incidents involving the toy sets, such as skin burns, irritation, and respiratory issues. One user even reported that it triggered a case of asthma.

Typically, sets include a sphere that contains all the necessary materials to put together the miniature appliance, food, or lifestyle items.

The resin packaging in each set can resemble various food items like a peanut butter jar, maple syrup bottle, milk container, and more. Once hardened, the resins take on a realistic food-like appearance.

The products that were recalled were available for purchase at various retailers across the country, including Target, Walmart, Family Dollar, Dollar General, ALDI, Hobby Lobby, and Amazon.com.

They were sold between October 2022 and June 2024, with prices ranging from $7 to $13 for individual sphere sets and $14 to $52 for sets sold in a box, KETV7 reported.
