Chinese giant tech firm Huawei is hunting the land down under for investments to their multi-billion dollar supply service chain. The company's global procurement team was scheduled to arrive in Australia next week to woo Australian ICT firms, reports said.
Huawei will conduct workshops in key cities such as Sydney and Melbourne to show local ICT companies its products and operations. According to latest reports, over 70 companies have already expressed their intent to attend the said workshops.
Peter Rossi, Huawei's chief technology officer, said that the company wants Australia's booming ICT industry to take notice of the opportunities opened by the company.
"We're looking for win-win partnerships with Australian ICT companies," said Rossi.
Huawei's components are currently supplied by a majority of non-Chinese firms. American suppliers make up 32% of the company's provider portfolio, while 32% more comes from Taiwan and Europe, said Rossi.
According to statistics provided by the company, Huawei's reach in the country increased rapidly in the past years. Driven by claims that the company's 4G phone was the fastest available in the country, Huawei gained traction in the Australian market.
