McDonald's will be introducing a Special Grade Garlic Sauce on July 9, drawing inspiration from the supernatural anime "Jujutsu Kaisen." USA Today shared that this limited-time offering will be exclusively available through the McDonald's App.
Also inspired by McDonald's Japan's Black Garlic Sauce, the Jujutsu Kaisen condiment blends garlic and soy sauce with a tangy sweetness. McDonald's promises a flavor profile for anime fans and their offerings.
Ahead of its official release, McDonald's will also host a special tasting event for the press in New York City on July 8, featuring anime food show host Alvin Zhou.
McDonald's New Flavors
McDonald's has a history of experimenting with unique sauces to enhance its menu offerings.
Last October, McDonald's added two new sauces to its menu: Sweet & Spicy Jam and Mambo Sauce. These sauces were designed to appeal to a variety of palates, offering choices such as a red pepper dipping sauce. Like the upcoming Jujustu Kaisen sauce, this was also inspired by the culinary traditions of Washington, DC.
By introducing these unique flavors, McDonald's aims to attract customers who enjoy trying new and different culinary experiences, tapping into popular cultural phenomena like anime and regional cuisine inspirations.
These limited-time offerings also create buzz and generate excitement among existing and potential customers, similar to their $5 meal deal released on June 25.
