Biden Administration Revokes Some Licenses for Exporting Goods to China's Huawei in 2024: Report

The Biden administration canceled eight export licenses this year that had allowed several companies to send goods to the Chinese telecom giant Huawei despite the implemented trade restrictions. 

This move, revealed in a document first reported by Reuters, aims to increase pressure on the tech company.

Biden Administration Revokes 8 Licenses for Huawei

In May, the US Commerce Department announced it had revoked some licenses without specifying which companies were affected. Reuters reported that Qualcomm and Intel were among the companies impacted by these revocations.

According to a document responding to an inquiry from Republican Congressman Michael McCaul, the Commerce Department has revoked eight additional licenses related to Huawei since the beginning of 2024.

Licenses of Huawei

These licenses included approvals for exporting items such as exercise equipment, office furniture, and basic technology components like touchpads and touchscreen sensors for tablets.

These actions illustrate the Biden administration's ongoing measures to impede Huawei's operations, despite the company's attempts to recover from previous sanctions imposed on national security concerns.
