Amazon Discontinues Astro For Business Security Robot

Initially launched in 2021 for home use, Reuters reported that Astro was introduced to small- and medium-sized businesses in November 2023. However, its run proved to be short-lived following Amazon's recent move.

An Amazon spokesperson told Reuters that the decision to halt support for Astro for Business will enhance ongoing research and development to improve Astro as a home robot.

Amazon Offers $300 Credit Assistance

Astro for Business, priced at $2,349.99 and available only in the US, was marketed to help businesses with 24/7 monitoring. However, as Amazon communicated in an email to its customers, these robots will cease to function on September 25.

Amazon has introduced a $300 credit to assist affected customers in finding alternative workplace solutions. Starting Wednesday, customers will no longer be billed for the Astro Secure subscription fee and will be refunded for any unused pre-paid fees.
