Huawei Technologies has completed its expansive 10-billion-yuan ($1.4 billion) research and development (R&D) center in Shanghai. Named the Lianqiu Lake R&D Centre and situated in Jinze, Shanghai's Qingpu district, the campus spans eight blocks and encompasses 104 buildings interconnected by an internal railway system, according to SCMP.
Despite ongoing finalizations for bridge construction and landscaping, essential infrastructure such as signage, district roads, and train services for the campus has been completed. The new state-of-the-art facility conducive to innovation and collaboration is designed to accommodate approximately 30,000 R&D personnel.
The Lianqiu Lake campus will focus on advancing technologies in semiconductors, wireless networks, and the Internet of Things.

Huawei Attracts Foreign Talent
Ren Zhengfei, the founder and CEO of Huawei, expressed his goals to entice foreign talent by using the campus's facilities, such as more than 100 cafes designed to create a dynamic and stimulating workplace.
Ultimately-Ren's vision emphasizes Huawei's strategic plan to attract young, creative thinkers and scientists from global locations to their new campus in Shanghai.
Huawei's expansion efforts hope to counter geopolitical tensions, particularly stringent restrictions imposed by the US to curb goods. As reported by VCPost, these measures have left American executives within Chinese semiconductor firms constrained from involvement without specific licenses.
Nevertheless, Huawei has persevered, achieving notable milestones like leading the foldable smartphone market and advancing HarmonyOS to reduce dependence on Western mobile platforms.
