Wiers Farm, a major farm and food distributor based in Ohio, has recently expanded a recall of its produce products due to a potential listeria contamination. 

In a release published by the US Food and Drug Administration, the agency said that Wiers Farm is voluntarily recalling some of its produce products that could possibly be contaminated with Listeria monocytogenes. 

"Out of an abundance of caution, Wiers Farm Inc. of Willard, OH, is expanding its July 12, 2024, recall to include additional produce because it may be contaminated with Listeria monocytogenes," the release read. "Products involved in this expanded recall were packed between July 5-12 (2024). Wiers Farm Inc. is committed to implementing all measures necessary to fully resolve this situation."

Listeria monocytogenes is a bacteria that can cause listeriosis, a serious infection that sickens 1,600 people and causes the deaths of about 260 each year, per the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. 

So far, there have been no illnesses or consumer complaints reported, the FDA noted in the release.

Which Products Are Being Recalled?

The products involved in the recall were packed between July 5 and 12 and were distributed to Aldi, Kroger, and Walmart stores in 17 states.
