LG Electronics has issued a recall for 500,000 ranges sold nationwide, following reports of dangerous fires and safety concerns.

The recall affects ranges with front-mounted knobs that can easily be turned by accident, leading to at least 86 instances of unintentional activation.

According to DailyMeal, these faulty knobs have caused 28 fires, resulting in property damage exceeding $340,000. The fires have led to eight minor injuries, including burns, and three pets have tragically died as a result of these accidents.

The ranges, which were sold between 2015 and January 2025, were available at popular appliance retailers such as Best Buy, The Home Depot, Lowe's, and Costco, as well as on LG's official website.

The affected ranges, priced between $1,400 and $2,650, were manufactured in Mexico and Korea.

PSC Urges LG Range Owners to Request Free Warning Label After Fire Hazards

In light of these incidents, the US Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) advises consumers who own one of the affected ranges to contact LG for a free warning label.

The label contains instructions on how to use the range's Lock Out/Control Lock function, which can prevent accidental activation when the appliance is not in use.

Additionally, the CPSC urges homeowners to be cautious by checking that the range knobs are turned off before leaving the house or going to bed, CBS News said.

It is also recommended to keep children and pets away from the range to avoid accidental knob activation.

The recall comes after similar incidents involving other appliance brands, including a massive recall by Samsung in 2023 after hundreds of fires and injuries were reported.

The CPSC has warned that accidents related to range knobs are a growing safety concern, with several reports of both gas and electric ranges being unintentionally activated, sometimes causing deadly fires.

For more information or to request a warning label, affected customers can contact LG Electronics at 800-399-3265 or visit their website.
