Authorities in Oregon are investigating gunfire at a Tesla dealership in Tigard, a suburb just outside Portland, following a wave of vandalism against the company's retail locations across the state and the nation.

Police say the shots were fired overnight, around 1:46 am on Thursday, when the dealership was unoccupied. No injuries were reported.

Surveillance footage revealed that at least seven shots were fired at the building, damaging three cars and a computer monitor.

One bullet even pierced through a wall and into a computer screen. The damage includes shattered windows and a cracked windshield on one of the Tesla vehicles. Photographs of the aftermath showed bullet holes in the walls and shattered glass at the front of the dealership.

According to AP, the Tigard Police Department is working with the FBI and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives (ATF) to investigate the incident.

However, investigators currently have no description of a suspect. "While the motivation for this has not been confirmed, we are aware that other Tesla dealerships have been targeted across Oregon and the nation for political reasons," said Tigard police in a statement.

Tesla Dealerships Hit by Arson and Vandalism Amid Political Backlash

This shooting comes amid a rising trend of vandalism against Tesla dealerships. Last week, a woman was charged in Colorado for throwing Molotov cocktails at a Tesla dealership and spray-painting "Nazi cars" on the building.

Earlier this month, a man was arrested in Oregon for throwing Molotov cocktails at a Tesla dealership in Salem. Tesla dealerships across the country have seen similar attacks, some involving arson and vandalism.

The motives behind these attacks remain unclear, but they appear to coincide with Tesla's involvement in political matters.

Elon Musk, the CEO of Tesla, has been known for his connections to high-profile political figures, including his advisory role to former President Donald Trump. However, no direct link has been established between Musk's political affiliations and the recent acts of vandalism.

In addition to the recent shootings in Tigard, Tesla dealerships in Oregon have been the targets of several incidents over the past few months.

In January, two Molotov cocktails were thrown at the Salem dealership, setting a vehicle on fire.

A second round of attacks occurred in February when police found evidence of bullets and projectile damage at the same dealership, USA Today said. Tesla has estimated the total damage from these incidents to be around $500,000.

These attacks reflect the ongoing tension surrounding Tesla, especially in regions where the company has faced significant backlash.

While the motivation behind the attacks is still under investigation, the growing frequency of these incidents raises concerns about the safety of Tesla dealerships and their employees.
