According to a report from tech and media site AllThingsD, Answers.com has bought Easy2 Technologies. Although the privately-held web company Answers did not disclose financial details of the acquisition, it had reportedly bought the software company for less than USD20 million.
Answers, which generated a majority of its earnings from ads to its visitors, claimed that its main Q&A services has over 200 million users via search queries.
Interestingly, the acquisition was similar to a buyout deal Answers went through in May. Easy2 Technologies software allows brands and retailers to add interactive features such as demos and product listings. Answers bought WebCollage in May. WebCollage has similar sofware features with Easy2.
Moreover, the Easy2 acquisition was also the third time that Answers bought a business-to-business retail focused company in the last year. In 2012, Answers bought ResellerRatings. ResellerRatings solicits customer reviews from visitors of e-commerce sites. On the other hand, Answers tried and failed to purchase About.com from the New York Times last year.
